About this site

Who we are

Fabric Identifier is built and maintained by UdaTech, a small independent app studio. The same people write the fabric guides on this site.

How the identification works

You take a photo, the app sends it to our server, and an AI vision model looks at what the camera can see: color, texture, sheen and the weave or knit. You get the most likely fabric with a confidence score, the closest alternatives, and the likely fiber content, weight, stretch and care.

It is a likely answer from a photo, not a lab test. It can’t look inside the fibers, so fiber content is shown as likely and possible fibers rather than percentages, and blends that look alike are the hardest cases. When the fiber really matters, confirm with the care label or a burn test.

How the guides are written

The guides describe common home methods for identifying fabric, written from standard textile identification and care practice. Where the app and a guide could disagree, we say so: the label and a burn test outrank a photo.
